We had our wedding at trelawn in dec 2011, it is a truley amazing place, the views are spectacular and the rooms are 5 star, We couldnt ask for a better place for our special day! Nery and Michael were awesome, they put together a wedding package and everyone that went loved it. They were very helpful and perfect hosts we would recommend staying here it is a real gem.

I stayed here back in 2008 and had a great time! I was there in the winter time and was very cozy. I thought the location was very good. Yes, it is outside of Queenstown, but the drive is short and scenic. I was just there on holiday but this place would be great for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, etc. The owners are extremely friendly and were able to recommend lots of things to do. Definitely give this place a look.

Trelawn Place is a real gem! Nestled on top of Arthur's Point, just 5 minutes out of Queenstown, it is a world class establishment run by professionals that the whole family can enjoy. The view of the Shotover River and Coronet Peak is almost out done by the best roses I have ever seen in a private garden! We stayed in The Apartment, two adults, a teenager and a ten year old. There was plenty of room and we were all comfortable and able to find our own space around the property. After a day of hectic adventuring in and around Queenstown the Trelawn is the perfect place to unwind. We loved the spa that overlooks the Shotover and the walk down to the River (accompanied by a corgi). Nery and Michael are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the breakfasts are delicious! We will definitely be back .... soon.
Room Tip: Get Tiggers Tree house if you are a romantic couple, it's sooo beautiful! However, all the rooms are special. (This is the Cherry Tree House)"Better then the Marriotts and the Intercontinental"
Guest Review from beacoj@gvtc.com - Oct 6, 2011
We traveled all over australia and New Zealand on our trip. We stayed at Marriott's in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. In Melbourne we stayed one night at the Intercontinental. I can honestly say that this place beat them all. The view was spectacular, the setting was perfect and Mike and his wife were the perfect host. We stayed in one of the "cabins" way more then a cabin. Close enough to downtown Queenstown but far enough out that you get the feeling your part of the scenery. Ten minute drive into town. Very pleased with this experience.
"Amazing place great people can't wait to go back"
We stayed in the cherry treehouse cottage at Trelawn for 4 nights in august. We were also married at this amazing place on the Saturday during our stay. I cannot speak highly enough of the location, the beautiful hosts (Nery & Michael) and the warmth and charm of the cottage. The views of the shotover river and coronet peak are absolutely stunning and the location is close enough to Queenstown whilst providing a romantic detached hideaway. Nery and Michael were so generous with their time and played the perfect hosts, there when we needed them but always mindful of our space and privacy. Sarah and Rusty (the corgis) became our best friends and were always there to greet us when we arrived home after some time on the slopes. I may sound a little gushing in my praise but this truly was a memorable experience in NZ. We have stayed in many places around the world during our extensive travels and Trelawn is without a doubt right at the top of our list. If anyone is looking for a special place to share with someone close (or even a stand-out wedding venue) then this is it.
Thanks to Nery and Michael and we hope to see you (and Sarah & Rusty) again soon. Michelle and Brian
"Friendly, warm, accommodation and magnificent scenery"
Siobhan9780 reviewed 7th August, 2011
We had a fantastic weekend staying at Michael and Nery's cottage. We were made to feel welcome and Michael kept the fire well stocked for us so that we were nice and warm.
We loved the fact the accommodation is pet friendly and our 4 legged companion got to join us there. Michael and Nery even took him for a walk! Couldn't have asked for more. The cottage is lovely and cosy and the jacuzzi at the foot of the garden is just what u need after a day on the slopes.
Can't wait to visit again! We have already recommend the accommodation to friends.
Myself, my flatty, my nephew and his g/f all went down to Queenstown for a long weekend. I found Trelawn just by chance after phoning around a few places in Queenstown to see if I could book somewhere that would allow us to bring our four legged hairy baby (George) along too. Michael and Nery were more than happy for us to bring George.
The property is set in absolutely beautiful scenic setting, the views are breathtaking and it's only about 5 minutes drive fron Queenstown. We were greeted by Nery and their own hairy babies on arrival and shown to our lovely, cosy cottage to the side of the main house. Michael had the fire going for us and the electric blankets on in our beds..lovely!
George was a bit aprehensive at first with Rusty and Sara (the resident corgi's)...I think an unspoken pact was eventually agreed...stay out of way while the messy bulldog eats his dinner on the porch.....wait till the coast is clear and QUICK get in for the leftovers ha ha it seemed to work for them.
We had a pretty busy day on the Sat in Queenstown but got back to the cottage just after t to find fire had been re-stocked for us and George was happily snoring in front of it (litte did we know that Michael and Nery had taken him out for a stroll in the afternoon....they didn't get too far ha ha lazy bulldog!). After a few tipples we headed down to the outdoor jacuzzi to relax and watch the shooting stars until our bones were relaxed and our skin resembling that of a prunes! The following day we headed up the mountain for a spot of snow boarding, which is only about 15 min away in the car and we managed to squeeze in a bungee jump before heading back to the shakey ground of Christchurch.
This was an excellent weekend, our accommodation was brilliant, cosy and warm. Michael and Nery are great hosts who make you feel welcome, comfortable and happy.
We could have happily stayed another week or 2. We will definately be back again, I would highly recommend this accommodation to all and for those who are responsible dog owners (there are some that ruin it for us others...prob why it's so hard to get accommodation that will take pets!!) , Michael and Nery go out of their way to make ur four legged baby's welcome too.
Thank you so much for having us! We can't wait till our next visit.

“Perfect wedding venue”
ausnic80 Reviewed June 1, 2011
We are Queenstown locals and chose Trelawn for our wedding and reception and are so glad we did. Nery and Michael were great hosts and so helpful in the lead-up to the wedding. We hired the whole venue so that our families could also spend the night of the wedding there and they all loved it. Breakfast in the morning was great too. We would definitely recommend this b+b for anyone looking to stay in a beautiful location just a short drive out of Queenstown.
“So beautiful it ain't real!”
Minigingerbread, Singapore Date of review: May 25, 2011 -
I have read everything about how beautiful this place is, and boy, was I blown away when I saw it for myself! This has to be the most beautiful place I have ever lived in. The garden was maintained by the owners Michael and Nery to perfection. Among the plants were roses, and an apple tree (I wanted to pluck one to eat but managed to stop myself). The hosts made us feel really at home (ok, if my home is in heaven).
Its was raining and cold when we arrived. Michael and Nery welcomed us with some hot tea and cakes, and we had a little chat at the fire place. Their 2 dogs were very friendly and kept wanting to snuggle up to us, though the 2 cats couldn't care less! Afterwards we were shown our room (we had the Floydies room). It was a lovely country-styled room with an attached toilet . I don't find the furniture dated at all. I think they add to the charm. O, and there is free wifi!
Despite its secluded location, it is just a short 5-minute drive to town. This is a fantastic place in a fantastic location.
“A cozy cottage with a killer view”
KaplanGeorge,

We arrived unannounced at Trelawn and were greeted by two friendly Corgis. The owners were responsive to our very short notice request for a room that night and showed us the stand alone cottage on the edge of the gorge. A breathtaking view!
the cottage had plenty of room for two people and was very cozy (if a bit dusty... which the owners apologised for- but it was likely due to our lack of notice).. There was a washing machine and tumble-dryer with laundry powder provided which was much appreciated as laundry was piling up! The bathroom had both a spa bath and a shower... and there is also a jacuzzi outside on the edge of the gorge for guests use.The bedroom upstairs was a bit dated and could do with a revamp and a good dusting... something the owners are working on as a new sofa arrived for downstairs just as we were leaving!
“Great views, great convenience and ..... a pet cemetery?”

The place is beautifully located overlookiing the Shotover river and if you have a car (and most people who stay there do), you are very central to all the sites. We have stayed at the Cherry tree cottage which has all the things you could hope for including a spa bath, DVD player for the rainy afternoons (we had a few) and a fireplace. At breakfast on the deck overlooking the speedboats on the river below we were accompanied by the two resident dogs and a cat who felt she owned the place. It was a very beautiful and convenient base.
One suggestion is that the windows should have flyscreens - without them you face the choice of being eaten alive by mosquitos or leaving the place with no ventilation. The latter creates a musty smell which is not that appealing and gives the cottage a bit of a dated feel. The kitchen utensils could also be updated to change the feel of the place to a more up market level befitting the price. Finally, we were rather amused that the beautiful garden next to the cottage is actually a pet cemetery but some guests may find that a little spooky.

This was my second vacation at Trelawn, my first being in Dec 2001. Because of my previous experience of their hospitality, I was not about to consider anywhere else to stay in Q'town. Michael & Nery don't just offer accommodation, they provide a home away from home in a uniquely country homestead atmosphere. Since my first visit in '01, we have become good friends and I very much value that friendship. The welcome upon arrival and the extra little things they provide to their guests continually sees them going that extra yard. Whether it's booking trips or providing helpful advice on where to eat or updated weather forecasts, nothing seems to be too much trouble for Michael & Nery. The rooms are spacious, friendly and comfortable and filled with ambience. The gardens, lawns and the spectacular location all go towards providing a memorable vacation. Getting to walk the dogs in the mornings was a particular highlight also. I look forward to a 3rd visit in the next two years. If it's a friendly down home country experience that you are looking for at a reasonable price, then Michael & Nery's Trelawn Guest House is the place for you.

We booked Trelawn Place for our wedding and afternoon tea styled reception in March. The stunning location and wonderful helpful hosts make the whole event very enjoyable and relaxing. With all our guests commenting on what a lovely setting it was.
On the night of the wedding we stayed in the Cherry Tree Cottage, which had plenty of room, was clean, tidy and comfortable. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast with the hosts Michael and Nery.
We were very sad to leave and will make sure we come back soon to this stunning location.

ozmoose Date of review: Apr 26, 2011 -
In Queenstown for my sister's wedding, I knew she'd found a winner when we arrived there the day before for the practice run. A breath-taking location not far out of town overlooking the river and backed by mountains and forest, it is truly a stunning venue to host a wedding.
The gardens are meticulously maintained and we found the owners very helpful with the preparations. The wedding went off without a hitch and was a beautiful evening that our friends and family will find hard to forget. We stayed overnight, and while our room was a bit flowery for my taste it certainly suited the the rest of the place very nicely in a ye'olde English kind of way.
Breakfast the next morning was a very social affair around a big table with a great fry up compliments of Nery. You could spend hours in the peaceful garden but unfortunately we had to leave. Our thanks to Michael & Nery, gracious hosts you were, and a lovely place you have.

I can't put into words enough wonderful things about this tranquil place. The owners are fantastic people made us feel very welcome on our arrival and during our 10 day stay we got to know them very well and will certainly keep in touch and return there for another holiday. Thank you for making our time there so enjoyable. They are very knowledgeable about the worthwhile atttractions and put us on the right track for what to do and see.
The location is out of this world, so peaceful and quiet and the night sky was just ablaze with stars. We stayed in the apartment, it was so cosy with its own kitchenette, it gave us the option of making our own dinner or breakfast if we felt like doing so. The ambience is outstanding and I slept like a log every night..
The grounds are beautiful, lovingly cared for by the owners, and the touch of fresh flowers in your room was appreciated. There are apple trees laden with fruit and it was certainly an experience to walk outside your door and pick an apple...yummo.
It is hard to descibe just how wonderful our time at Trelawn Place was and I must say the people who wrote the negative words must have been staying at an entirely different place to us as we found none of the problems they say they encountered so I am pleased I did not take their review seriously or I would have missed out on this beautiful experience.................

I stayed 3 days in Trelawn in April 2011. This is the best B&B in my 10 days' New Zealand trip.
It's located in a quiet area and only 4KM away from the downtown.
The garden is definitely the highlight of Trelawn. It's so beautiful. If you have seen the pictures at website, believe me, it's more beautiful than pictures.
I chose the Cherry Tree House. It's a cozy single house. You can see lots of tasteful decoration. Even the plates in the kitchen looks so nice. It's not a big house but I found eveything I need. What we enjoyed most is the time when we had breakfast in the garden in the sunshine, playing with the 2 cute dogs and 1 cat. BTW, the bed in 2nd floor is very comfortable. What a nice thing to wake up in such a lovely bedroom.
My friends chose the Cottage. In fact I called it Apply tree house coz there are so many apply trees beside their cottage. It's wonderful house too.
Michael and Nery are great guests. Michael showed me around the house and introduced how he and his family built and maintain Trelawn. Please don't forget to ask him to share with you the photo album.
If you plan your stay in Trelwan, please book at least 2 nights, otherwise, you will regret.
Last but not least, Michael and Nery, thank you for your walm welcome! I miss you and Trelawn! Please email me when you come to Shanghai one day.

We booked Trelawn place out for 2 days for our wedding in February. Such a beautiful location. Stunning beyond words. Michael and Nery were kind and helpful hosts who made the effort to make our day and stay special. Our family will talk about their stay at Trelawn for years to come. The cooked breakfast was awesome too. Thanks very much.

Dear Nery and Michael
Finally getting around to this email to thank you sincerely for your great assistance in the planning and during our wedding last month. We and our guests had a fabulous time and that was in no small way due to the co-operation from both of you. We left Queenstown on a high and with warm and lasting memories. All our guests were blown away with the beauty of Trelawn and there is certainly amazement from all in Canberra who are now enjoying some great photos of your property and the surrounding country. A couple of photos are attached.
Both of you were an integral part of our Queenstown wedding. You made us and our guests feel so welcome when you arrived and, as you know, it was hard to get everyone to leave!
Great assistance was also received from Anne and all her staff at The Glebe, Kathryn Omond our Celebrant, Stephen at Encore Catering (fantastic food!) and Marylyn at Snag Buses. It was a terrific team to work with.
Thanks you and kind regards

We rarely stay in the same place twice, but this was our third trip to Trelawn and we loved it! Each time it seems to get better, and Nery and Michael are marvellous hosts.
The location cannot be beaten: staggering beauty involving mountains and the Shotover River. There is a zen-like sense of peace in the abundant sunshine, yet the excitement of Queenstown is only 5 minutes away. It was a wrench to leave - but we'll be back!

Beautiful location, just out of Queenstown, gorgeous property and the valley is lovely and quiet... when there aren't jet boats travelling down the river every 5 minutes. Admittedly, we went the day after new years so maybe the boats aren't as regular normally but if you're thinking of having a wedding their, keep it in mind.

We used Trelawn as the location for our wedding having only seen on-line and reviews. The place is staggering and the hosts, Michael and Nery really could not have done more to make things go perfectly. The hard work they put into the place is obvious, but also the little things that surprise and delight (like the hot tub, and the beautiful gardens, and the heaters at night in the garden) are wonderful.
Also, they worked incredibly hard behind the scenes and did countless things that we are not even aware of and they do not expect thanks for - but I know they did.
The location is second to none - it is just like it is in the photographs, or even better.
With respect to the comments about dogs they were never intrusive and if ever a bit nosy quickly coaxed away by Michael. To be honest I'm not a dog person but they didn't offend me at all, and they actually added even more character to the place.
And with respect to the comments about the Shotover Jet; again it really is not that intrusive - they pass by only occasionally but regularly and the quiet between them is complete, the breaks frequent and long and the occasional squeals of delight always made me giggle - even during our wedding ceremony!
The rooms are all absolutely spotless, very comfortable, well equipped and characterful. The grounds are beautifully kept and the lawn wonderful. Do yourself a favour and make a stay at Trelawn, if you are having a wedding even better (you can trust Nery and Michael and their sub-contractors completely), this location and these hosts will make for a truly unforgettable day.

My husband and I stayed at Trelawn Place in Queenstown for three nights. The view was undescribeable over the Shotover River and also the mountains. We enjoyed the breakfasts with Michael and Nery, great food and conversation. The dogs also led us "tramping" around the property and up the road. After traveling for over 24 hours we were met with kind words and tea and biscuits. When we return to NZ we will definately stay with Nery and Michael at Trelawn.
For three days there we took a cruise on the TSS Earnslaw steamer ship to Walter Peak and had dinner and sheep shearing. We went to Milford Sound for a cruise and flew with Glenorchy Air (great trip). We spent the morning in Arrowtown and then lunch at Amisfield Winery (great food and wine in their restaurant). We enjoyed relaxing in front of the fire and watching the snow!!

We decided to stay out of Queenstown township and Trelawn Place was perfect. Only 5 minutes by car and bordering countryside with a spectacular view of the Shotover River - complete with jet boats tearing past (you can wave to the riders!) and a clifftop spa pool which was welcomed in the -10 degree temperatures. The Cottage was ideal for us. We have a five year-old and it was a relief to have a self contained cottage where we knew our noise would not annoy the honeymooners. It was 5 meters from the (fenced) clifftop and was a cosy oasis after a big day of Queenstown adventures. The pot belly stove was kept crammed with coal to heat the two bedroom plus kitchenette cottage and we were as snug as bugs in rugs. Decor was comfy and good quality without being ostentatious and the visiting corgies and cats were a nice homely touch. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The upstairs bedroom had a lovely view of the river from a balcony. That room gets very hot at night, but opening a window a crack sorted that out. Having laundry facilities was a real bonus. The owners were around, but not obvious and we didn't see another guests although there were some. We chose to make our own breakfast, due to the 5 year-old waking up so early, so we didn't experience the B & B breakie, but that's a nice option. Perhaps it would have been useful to have our own coal bin outside so we didn't need to keep asking for our coal skuttle to be filled...We really loved our wee cottage and the walk down to the rives edge was fun - we saw huge icicles hanging in the shade across the river! It was literally 10 minutes drive from Coronet Peak ski field as well, so you can't beat the location. Highly recommended and the only suggestions I could make to the owners would be to clean perhaps every second day and re-hang the Trelawn Place sign - it looks very forlorn sitting there in the driveway of what is a charming, well located and comfortably fitted-out accommodation.

Can't say enough about how nice Trelawn Place is. We stayed in the S/C Cottage which was cozy, but perfect for our family of 4. What a great deal considering you had a small kitchen, grill, laundry, and 2 bedrooms, the grounds and the hot tub. It's a 'boutique' quality b & b at a reasonable price. You could easily pay 2-4x times for one of the flashy new boutique locations.

Been meaning to write this review for a while. My partner and I traveled to New Zealand and in reflecting back on our amazing trip (every place we stayed was fantastic) it was truly difficult to pick where we enjoyed the best. I'd say it's an even tie (of excellence) between Trelawn in Queenstown --and the lovely Adrift in the Golden Bay area by Nelson.
Trelawn was a fantastic place to stay for several nights as we explored Queenstown and surrounding areas. It was a short drive to town (just a few minutes) with excellent views and much privacy. We stayed in the comfy and elegant Cherry Tree. It was well equiped and very very comfortable.
The hosts were extremely pleasant. While the place was "full" while we were there, we had much privacy. Our meals

My sister chose Trelawn as the jumping off point for her heli wedding in the Remarkables and what a great choice. We were greeted by the lovely Michael and Nery as soon as we arrived, they knew exactly who we were as they had been in constant contact with my sister to reassure her that everything was on track for the wedding!
We were taken to the "apartment" which we had booked which is a gorgeous little cottage attached to the main house, the heaters were already on and Michael immediately ushered us off to catch up with my sister and her fiance, who were walking the incredible grounds, while he lit our cosy gas fire. Upstairs was a lovely sized bedroom with electric blankets for the Queenstown cold and a gorgeous little balcony leading to stairs out into the grounds. It felt very private and romantic despite being attached to the main house.
My sister was in the " cottage" . This place was gorgeous and perfect for the honeymooning couple, set slightly apart from the main house and the views are magnificent. There are two bedrooms here and a little pot belly heater which could heat the world so soon the place is very cosy.
Also on site is a hot tub in a private setting with BBQs overlooking the river which we took to that evening. The views are spectacular, but those you have to see for yourself to believe.
On the wedding day Michael and Nery were indispensible in the background ensuring everything was on track. They knew the celebrant (Phillippa Cook), the Helicopter Pilot (Geoff) and the Photographer Marissa, who were all magnificent. If I was getting married there myself I would request the same group who were so lovely they felt like wedding guests on the mountain! The Helicopter landed as promised at 12:30 right on the lawn outside the picturesque Trelawn and we were waved off by Michael and Nery who had organised the bouquets and boutonnière as part of the wedding package. On top of the mountain we also found out they had supplied a bottle of champagne and glasses for us to enjoy. (part of their wedding package)
Back on the ground following the beautiful ceremony in some of the most gorgeous scenery I have ever experienced, Nery had coffee and tea and a home made chocolate wedding cake ready to go. The fire was lit and she soon had us all warmed up as we tried to describe how beautiful everything had been!
To sum up - perfect place for a destination wedding, you will be treated like royalty with every detail considered and stay in lovely rustic accommodation. Trelawn has a lovely mountain lodge feel and is so private and out of the way it feels very exclusive!
Perfect

If you are visiting Queenstown, you owe it to yourself to stay at Trelawn and experience this one of a kind setting as well as the warmth and hospitality of the innkeepers, Michael and Nery. My husband and I visited Trelawn for the second time last February. We stayed in the charming English cottage on the hill overlooking the Shotover River. The cottage, which has its own kitchenette, is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a cozy, comfortable retreat that feels very secluded but offers easy, quick access to Queenstown. And the views are absolutely off the charts! Michael and Nery are lovely people and made sure we were well looked after. In fact, we wouldn't think about visiting NZ again without staying at Trelawn. To me it is Shangri-la with an English garden, lovable corgis, kind and friendly inn-keepers and ...did I mention the view?

We stayed for a week and wished it was longer. The very cozy Cherry Tree Cottage is in an incredible position, with a deck and BBQ perched besdie it in a perfect spot for soaking up the amazing views down the Shotover River gorge, towards the Coronet Peak ski fields. Cozy well provisioned cottage. Beautiful lawns. Jacuzzi in an even more amazing position to view the river and Jet boats as they go past. If you want to get closer to the river and see the jet boats up close as they do their spins, there's a path (quite steep and stony) down to a beach. You have to be OK with heights to stay here, as the narrow track to Trelawn hugs a cliff face with very little in places between you and a vertical 50m drop into the gorge!. Also, if you have young kids, you need to keep a constant eye out as the lawns have some precipitous drop-offs at the edges. I would strongly recommend this place, even if it might be a bit above average, price-wise. Also, it really is no more than about 4 or 5 minutes from Queenstown centre and the supermarket, so very convenient. Best things about/spots in Queenstown: Fergburger, The Boathouse Cafe, the drive beyond Glenorchy to Paradise, the autumn colours in the trees, The Underwater Observatory (kids will like a quick visit to see huge fish and diving ducks), The Bunker, Vudu Cafe, Jetboating and scenic fly/cruise/fly to and from Milford Sound. Could easily stay 2 weeks in Queenstown and not get bored.

We stayed as B&B guests for 4 nights at Trelawn Place in Queenstown in April 2010, and really enjoyed our time there. The house is lovely, very homely and welcoming, and situated high above the Shotover river with stunning views up and down the valley.
The place was very peaceful and yet only 10 minutes drive from central Queenstown, or 15 minutes taking the back route to Arrowtown where there were lovely little restaurants and an arthouse cinema.
Nery and Michael were welcoming hosts and very knowledgeable and well travelled, which made for lots of interesting conversations over breakfast! The place is perfect for animal lovers, with loveable corgis and a pair of cats.
The room was comfortable, and we had a quick look around one of the apartments and it was a proper little house of its own. We were so busy we didn't get chance to use their hot tub perched above the River, which would have been very romantic.
If you're taking the trip to Queenstown (and you've not seen New Zealand til you have!) then you must treat yourself to a stay at Trelawn. As the kiwis say - choice!

I stayed here two summers ago and it was great (though it was actually winter in NZ). I stayed in the separate cottage with one other person. It was very spacious and the hosts were extremely welcoming. I normally don't stay at B&B's but this proved a great base for our activities in and around Queenstown. The scenery around the place is amazing and it feels secluded but your very close to town. When I go to NZ again I will definitely stay here.

We were welcomed to the Trelawn by Nery and Michael plus their two gorgeous Corgis and 2 cats. We were invited to join them on their terrace for tea and delicious cakes overlooking their beautifully maintained garden. Below we could hear the laughter of passengers as they sped past in the jet boat which turned through 360 degrees. We felt at home immediately and when we were shown our accomodation we were overwhelmed. We had the Treehouse cottage which was immaculately clean and beautifully fitted, with a walk in wardrobe, a perfect kitchen, beautiful bedroom, a spa bath and it got better. Outside was a terrace with our own barbecue where we could relax and enjoy the awesome views. MIchael and Nery were perfect hosts, so hospitable and caring. We had the best of both Worlds, either the tranquility and privacy of our own cottage or the generous hospitality of our hosts which included a sumptuous breakfast accompanied by Nery and Michael. The views were so stunning and dramatic, in the evening we could see deers and cows drinking from the river and in the morning we were woken gently by sheep who had come fown from the hills to graze, just outside our bedroom window. We loved Queenstown which was so vibrant with good shops, excursions and restaurants. Our stay at the Trelawn will stay in our memory forever. As the saying goes 'There are no strangers here, only friends who have never yet met' Thank you both so much.

My name is Phoebe and my partner Michelle and I stayed with Nery and Micheal for 10days. We were there to celebrate our civil union with our family and friends, so we decided to book the whole of Trelawn Place. From beginning to end, booking over a year ago to the day we said goodbye, our hosts were close to being our second parents. They cared for our every need; our rooms were clean and tidy every day; woken to smiles and a hearty breakfast; sunshine and a view to die for. We chose Trelawn because of its beauty and serenity. But most of all we wanted our family and friends to go away feeling; this is something special and never to be forgotten. And, Nery and Micheal, we achieved our goal. Everyone wants to come back. Queenstown is an amazing place; one in a million, but we forget that it is the people who live and work there who make our memories of our lifetime. Michelle and I want to thank you both for making our dream come true. Oh must'nt forget Sarah and Rusty...(the corgies) just that taste of home..
So, my family and wedding party stayed with us and we were accommodated by our hosts; we had two large BBQ evenings; our ceremony and venue was there; our after events were there and our absolute privacy to relax and be family was always there. A place we will continue to celebrate special moments in our lives. Always Phee & Michellexx

I had been looking at this B&B on tripadvisor for some time, and when the opportunity came up to put together my trip to the South Island, I was quick to book in. I was not disappointed. My wife and I stayed in the Cherry Tree Cottage, and had a wonderful time. Queenstown is busy, especially in winter, and Trelawn was a nearby oasis where we could relax and recharge for the next day of excitement. We watched the shotover jet boats scooting over the river just below the property in the morning, and the lights of Coronet Peak ski field from the hot tub at night. The cottage had internal laundry, and Nery & Michael were gracious and very accommodating. I'll certainly stay again the next time I'm in Queenstown.

We booked the whole of Trelawn for our wedding. It was a brilliant venue, only a 5 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown but it seemed like we were in our own little World. The gardens were perfectly manicured, the setting was perfect in everyway from where to hold the ceremony, where to eat and where to set up the band. Go on treat yourself to this venue for any small to medium sized event.

I was living in New Zealand after college graduation for 6 months, and my parents came over from the US to visit and travel around. I looked into B&B's and homestays all over the Queenstown area, and was stunned by the amount of competition in the area. We only had two nights in Queenstown (not enough!) so I wanted to choose a place a little off the beaten path that would allow us to soak it all in. Nothing generic, something with a view, and not right in the city center. Trelawn B&B popped up and I instantly booked. FYI, the website does not do this place justice.
About 3km from the center on the road to Arrowtown, Trelawn is tucked away on a cliff overlooking the Shotover River. We pulled up pretty tired after a long haul and were SO happy to find ourselves at this gorgeous hidden treasure. Two adorable corgis greeted us while Nery led us to the apartment, where I had a bed downstairs and my parents took the bedroom upstairs. The place was very well-kept and charming, and the view from our porch was absolutely insane. You can see the jetboats whizzing by below on the Shotover's crystal blue water, and the silence in the air is heavenly. The garden is stunning...we were just so happy the whole time.
When the corgis hadn't seen us emerge one morning around 9, they came to the back door of the apartment to summon us to breakfast. These dogs were so awesome - we let them in to play a few times and went on a nice walk. Breakfast was wonderful and Nery helped us book some activities for the day. Jetboating is right around the corner along with parasailing, and it's an easy jaunt to the city for everything else. Honestly, I would've been thrilled to hang out at Trelawn all day.
It's a mistake to miss Queenstown in general, but an even bigger mistake to miss this place. We just loved every ounce of it.
"The best place we stayed at on our NZ trip!"

My husband and I planned our self-drive vacation through a local tour agency and every day of these two weeks has been a pleasant surprise - more beautiful scenery, more thrilling activities and wonderful accommodations. Following some advice from TripAdvisor website we decided to stay in B&Bs and it proved to be the right choice. We felt like as a bonus to wonderful lodging and delicious meals we also had a chance to experience culture a little bit. Friendliness of people in NZ is quite remarkable.
Trelawn was the last B&B where we stayed and it was absolutely the best. The location is breathtaking. It sits almost on the edge of a cliff with a gorgeous view of the river! The house is surrounded by rose garden! On the very edge of the cliff there is a hot tub that we enjoyed one of the evenings - surreal experience, I must add - you look down off the cliff at the river, you look up at bright stars, you enjoy the warmth of the tub and freshness of cool air - and all that in absolute quite!!!!
We enjoyed our room too - we had a living room and kitchen downstairs, and bedroom - upstairs.
The hosts, Michael and Neri, were the most helpful recommending activities, making our stay comfortable.... But it also felt like we were visiting friends. That's an amazing thing about NZ - we were on the opposite side of the earth and felt so at home!
Needless to say - we are going back!!!

Arrived to find that we had been upgraded for our 2 night stay to the Cherry Tree Cottage. A nice welcome and much appreciated.
The Cottage itself was a comfortable home from home with superb views over the Shotover River.
The overall location of Trelawn Place is splendid, up in the hills just outside Queenstown allowing for seclusion with many pleasant walks available to the river below. The gardens are also very well maintained and a pleasure to walk round
The hosts, Nery and Michael, are much travelled and we spent much time over an excellent breakfast discussing trips both past and proposed.
They are also helpful in advising on excursions, restaurants etc.
We took their advice and ate at Gantleys Restaurant which provides a pick up service from Trelawn.
We probably had our best dinner of our entire trip there although it was the most expensive (150NZ$ for 2).
Overall. a highly enjoyable stay.

After visiting Trelawn in 1996 by Chance on recommendation from the Queenstown Info Centre as a newly married couple, we vowed to bring our friends back . Finally 12 years on 2 Kids a mortgage and Dogs we are back with our friends and it was worth the wait. Trelawn has changed with the addition of a new cottage and it is even better than we remember. Something that hasn't changed is the warm and friendly welcome and atmosphere that we experienced 12 years ago. Our hosts Nery and Michael have accommodated our every need. Our friends can't help but be in awe of the place. The views are simply breath taking with the only break in the silence being the squeals of delight as the Shotover Jets screams past the property . The children found Trelawn to be cosy and the food to be delicious they also took the two resident corgies for a walk along the goat tracks overlooking the Shotover river or maybe the dogs took them my advice come and see for your self you will not be disappointed ! We stayed at Trelawn's cottage for 7 nights during our honeymoon, and were absolutely delighted with the accommodation - it was even better than we'd hoped for.
The cottage itself was roomy and well-appointed with luxurious fittings and decorations. The stone exterior, underfloor heating and large gas fireplace made the cottage nice and warm, even when it was cold outside.
The owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome.
The location was amazing - a secluded site looking out to Coronet Peak over the Shotover river, but only a short drive to Queenstown.
The outdoor spa overlooking the river was a nice touch, especially when it started to snow - magic.

Two friends and I stayed at Trelawn Place last month for three nights. It's one of the very few places I've stayed which, having booked it via the internet, actually more than lived up to the pictures and description.
The setting -- five mins by car from Queenstown -- is superb and convienent, with beautiful vistas and an equally beautiful garden. The "Cottage" we stayed in was lovely: well furnished and cozy, and with the added bonus of a washing machine and dryer.
The proprietors, Nery and Michael, couldn't have been kinder and more helpful, directing us to the best restaurants and sight-seeing trips. The fully-cooked breakfast they provided was delicious and generous.
Their guestbook shows that they've had many repeat visitors over the years -- and no wonder. We'll certainly be back.

We had an excellent stay at Trelawn Place. We felt right at home...actually a lot better than home!! Wish we were still there under the stars in the hot tub with a glass of "Savi-B". For anyone who appreciates gardening, you can skip the botanical gradens and just enjoy Trelawn Place. All this and great restaurants in the area plus plenty to do in this picturesque part of the world. The view from Trelawn was exceptional. Super hosts! A++

We have just completed a 3-night stay at this wonderful B&B. The scenery is just spectacular as are the grounds with beautiful garden landscaping throughout the property. The site overlooks the Shotover river from a high bluff affording a very beautiful photo opportunity (just one from many focal points within the grounds). A hot tub is perfectly situated to allow users to view the river/mountains from on high. We are from the Philadelphia, PA USA area and would heartily recommend Trelawn Place to anyone looking for a delightful getaway in a close-to-perfect location (it may be of interst to note that The Lord of the RIngs trilogy was filmed in this region).
The city of Queenstown is a 15-20 minute drive away allowing access to a myriad of tour companies throughout the area including a very nice three-hour steamship lake cruise on Lake Wakatipu to the high farm country for tea and a tour of the farm and, of course, the famous and exciting jet boat trip on the Shotover River is another option.
Michael and Neri, our host and hostess were very accommodating and helpful in arranging things to do and places to dine in the area. They attended to our every need and couldn't have been nicer in detailing their property and other points of interest. From a woman's point of view, the rooms are charming and well appointed. Our bath had a fabulous tub, separate shower and vanity. The flowers in bloom and landscaping rival any flower show, in fact, while we were here, a Garden Club visited for tea. But best of all welcomes was the fun we had with the friendly critters - they greeted us properly and kept us well supplied with affection.
All in all, beautiful photos and memories to last a lifetime.
I would love to send photos with these comments, but will have to wait to send some when I get back home.

Had a wonderful 2 nights stay here as part of my honeymoon and would loved to have stayed longer. We stayed in the cottage (very cosy when the woodstove is on) and the hosts were very welcoming, including the cats and dogs! Such a peaceful & beautiful location yet such a short distance from the centre of Queenstown. I'm looking forward to my next visit one day.

If you want a romantic getaway or just a cosy place to stay in near Queenstown...this is the perfect place to stay. We stay in the apartment. It was a big lovely room with your own fire stove and with beautiful view over the mountain. The owners Nery and Michael were VERY nice and helpful and their breakfast was excellent. In the big garden they have a big jacuzzi with a delightful view. This B&B is a MUST. Please don´t stay in queenstown...go here instead.

Trelawn Place is unique. It is just outside Queenstown and overlooks the Shotover River. The gardens are magnificent and very tranquil.
Although it is a few kilometers from Queenstown it is very easy to get a taxi if you prefer not to drive into town. Taxi fares are very reasonable.
The accommodation is very well appointed and extremely comfortable.
Arrowtown with its preserved old buildings is a few kilometers in the opposite direction and is in contrast to the vibrant and busy atmosphere of Queenstown.
There is a very warm welcome at Trelawn Place and the extensive garden is there to be enjoyed by all.

Absolutely stunning location perched above the Shotover River, a spa bath on the edge of the gorge, fantastic gardens. We stayed in the separate little cottage and loved it. Friendly owners who share breakfast with you, and sort out bookings for local trips. Avoid Queenstown, stay here!

Dear Nery and Michael,
You will probably not remember me, but I was married at Trelawn Place in February 2002, and my husband Ben and I stayed for a couple of nights after the wedding as well.
The reason for my e-mail is that I was just looking through the latest copy of NZ House and Garden, and was pleasantly surprised to see and article on Trelawn Place. It certainly brought back some wonderful memories of my wedding and the lovely surroundings for me. The article is a brilliant representation of your venue, however there is nothing quite like arriving and seeing it for yourself, which pictures will never be able to substitute.
Congratulations on a lovely article in the magazine. Next time we manage to get a break long enough to escape to Queenstown, we would love to book a night or two at your B&B again.
Warmest regards,
Tracey Moulton

My Wife Cheryl and I have stayed at numerous B&B throughout the world during my travels and Trelawn Place "by far" was the absolute best. The spectacular setting on a high bluff over looking the Shotover River was magnificent. Our room and ajointing bathroom area was everything we could hope for. The landscaping of the grounds and flowers off the terrace out front were simply gorgous. Breakfast each morning was terrific and Michael & Nery your host will bend over backwards to make your stay in the Queenstown area as enjoyable as possible. Our only hope is that we can return some day !!

We found The Cottage at Trelawn Place on the internet and booked in advance for the shoulder season, getting a very good deal for three nights' luxury accommodation (compared to many places that we had considered in Queenstown). Michael and Nery responded efficiently to our email enquiries providing helpful information about other places to stay around New Zealand as we were planning our itinerary. On arrival at Trelawn Place, we were treated to afternoon tea on the sunny terrace, overlooking the prolific flower gardens and the Shotover River, and Michael's sharing of his knowledge about the range of things to do while in Queenstown. The corgis and cats were very friendly, helping us to feel at home as we were missing our own pets back in Australia. The Cottage was so pretty and comfortable with a magnificent king sized bed in the attic room with a separate entrance for our privacy. Bathroom facilities were excellent as was the little kitchen which enabled us to prepare some simple meals when we felt like staying in for a quiet night. Breakfast provisions were ample and fresh and we also took up the offer of a hearty cooked breakfast in the main house on our last morning. Nery recommeded some activities for us to do while in Queenstown including the Dart River Safari, booking this on our behalf. Michael advised us on where we may find TV coverage of the Australian Football League Grand Final which was on while we were in Queenstown (at a local eating establishment on the big screen TV) so we didn't miss out on watching the season finale. My favourite memory at Trelawn is of our evening spent relaxing in the hot tub in the garden overlooking the river, enjoying a bottle of Central Otago Pinot Gris and smoked salmon from Lake Wanaka, while the sun went down. We will definitely return to Trelawn Place on our next visit to New Zealand and will take some friends to share this wonderful experience with us.

We spent three glorious days and nights at the Trelawn in March 2004. Our hosts made us feel at home and treated us like royalty. The location overlooking the Shotout River is nothing short of spectacular. The grounds are impeccably manicured with flowers everywhere. Our room was was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Our morning breakfast consisted of fresh bakery, eggs, bacon and sausages and the best coffee on the South Island. If you are looking for a true New Zealand experience stay at the Trelawn!
